SafePantry is built so your family's allergen data never has to leave your device. Here's exactly what that means.

What we collect

Nothing. SafePantry does not collect, store, or transmit personal data on any server we control. There is no SafePantry server. Kid profiles, allergens, EpiPen status, emergency notes, scan history, cached product data — all of it lives on your iPhone (and optionally syncs across your own Apple devices via iCloud Private Database, which Apple end-to-end encrypts and we have no access to).

When you scan a barcode

Only the barcode digits leave your device, sent to the public Open Food Facts database to look up the product. The request contains no device identifier, no profile data, no allergen list. Open Food Facts is a non-profit, crowdsourced database licensed under ODbL.

When you contribute a label

If you opt in (off by default) to share a product label you've captured via Open Food Facts contributions, only the barcode, product name, and ingredient text are sent. Your kid profiles, scan history, and device identity stay private. You can disable contributions any time in Settings → Privacy.

What we never do

No analytics. No third-party SDKs. No advertising. No selling or sharing of data. No telemetry. No fingerprinting. No emails to you unless you write to us first.
